Teachers And Trainers Area

Welcome to the Thinkuknow (TUK) Teachers and Trainers area. Here you’ll find the Thinkuknow resources for teachers and all other professionals working with young people. There are films, presentations, games, lesson plans and posters covering a range of issues from grooming by child sex offenders to cyber-bullying. All of these resources encourage young people to have fun with new technology, whilst staying in control of the risks. Importantly, they also teach young people where to go if they have any concerns.

Over the last three years over 4.5 million young people have been educated through the Thinkuknow programme.

Accessing the resources

In order to access these resources you need to register with the site.

Once you have registered, you will then be able to download lots of free resources for children aged 5 to 16. To access some of them, however, you will also need to attend one of our half day training sessions. We also recommend that all professionals using our resources at any key stage attend one of these Thinkuknow courses as they provide a fantastic overview of the technologies children use, the dangers they may face and ways to reduce the risks. For more information about our training follow this link.

For 5 to 7 year olds you can download and order lesson plans, song sheets and posters to support our Hector’s World (hyperlink) cartoons. You can access these without training.

For 8 to 10 year olds you’ll find lesson plans and guidance to support the CyberCafe, an interactive resource for 8 to 10 year olds. These can also be accessed without training.

We have some fantastic resources for 11 to 16 year olds. In order to access these you will need to attend one of our free half day training sessions. Half day Thinkuknow training takes place around the country. To book yourself on a course follow this link.

Once you’ve been trained you’ll be able to deliver the Thinkuknow presentation, a forty five minute interactive presentation aimed at 11 to 16’s. It contains award winning awareness films, statistics and the latest advice on staying in control online.

Also available are two stand alone films, one for Primary and one for Secondary schools, which can be shown in assemblies. These are available without training. These thought provoking pieces incorporate the latest online safety advice from the CEOP centre.

Parents and carers play a crucial role in keeping their children safe online. Increasingly, however, they can feel isolated from their children’s online experiences. To help build their confidence we’ve developed ‘Purely for Parents’ an interactive presentation for you to deliver in parents’ evenings. It focuses on new and emerging technologies that children and young people use to communicate with each other, the potential risks they may face and easy technical and lifestyle solutions which parents can employ to help keep their children safe.

All of the Thinkuknow resources are provided free of charge. We only ask that you abide by our terms of use which can be found here.
